Pocket Watch Case

992B w/Model 9 Case. 16 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Grade 992B pocket watch. An attractive example which is highlighted by a scarce Hamilton Model 9 gold-filled factory case. This Model 9 case style was made by Star Watch Case Co. For Hamilton in the 1940s and was not well known to the collecting community until an example with original box was discovered a few years ago that identified the style as Model 9. Interestingly the Model 9 number had previously been used by Hamilton for a different case style made in the 1920s/30s by Fahys which is also rare. Movement is nicely finished with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, gold center, striped pattern nickel damaskeen, and an Elinvar balance assembly. Dial is sunk-seconds enamel. Movement serial number is C58924. Running and a nice looking movement with excellent color and luster. Dial is beautiful with only a few mild glaze scratches within its seconds-register. Case is attractive with a strong in hand look and feel but is showing light wear with some very narrow slivers of wear to brass to its band. Antique 18 Size Hamilton 17 Jewel Hunter Case Pocket Watch 937. Case has some wear on it but still in acceptable condition, runs great.

Antique Hamilton 17 Jewel Pocket Watch #974, Not Running, Gold Case. It wound up but there appears to be a broken piece inside. I’m not a watch expert so I don’t know how to fix it or tell exactly what’s broken. I will happily answer any questions or take extra pics if needed.

Here is a complete demonstrator case that once held a Hamilton 952 movement. Both bezels snap on fine. One bezel has a good glass crystal; the other one has a cracked crystal. The hangtag for Hamilton #840006 is attached.

According to the serial this Hamilton size 18 grade 929 and dates to 1897. The dial and hands are very clean with no hairlines. The crystal is glass and unblemished. The case looks original and is 25 year gold filled and about average condition with flattened details, some brassing on the bow. The crown works good. The is an engraving on the outside of the inner lid. All the lids work good and the front on open nicely when the crown is pushed. It opens a little more that 90. The movement is 15 jewel, lever set. It runs good and keeps time. Looks like this watch was used with care, but for many years. The diameter is 2 13/64.
