ONE OF A KIND historic WWI German pilot Ulysse Nardin Alabaster stone case watch. This unusual watch has been awarded personally by the German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II to pilot ace Karl Bohnenkamp. Vizefeldwebel Karl Bohnenkamp was a World War I flying ace credited with 15 aerial victories. He scored his first victory on 21 September 1917 and continued through 28 October 1918. His 15 victories made him the leading ace in his squadron. He was awarded the Military Merit Cross on the latter date The watch comes from his family estate. The watch has a hand carved Alabaster stone case, depicting the cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm II beneathe the royal crown. Signed on the inside back case and marked on the outside back. It is marked 7 Jewels and 8 Day on the face. It measures about 3 1/4″ wide, 4 1/2″ to the top of the ring, and about 1 3/4 front to back. (A large pocket Watch Size). It weighs 1 pound. Hinge and latch both work well with a small amount of play in the hinge. Feet are secure as is the ring at the top. The Heavy Gold Gilt finish is Shining (Check Out The Pictures). Good detent chronometer in hunter 14k gold case. Seems to be Swiss made for German market, or probably made by German masters based on Swiss ebauche. The movement equipped with pivoted detent escapement. It features wolf-tooth winding wheels, nice chaton and golden counterpivot. Movement is nicely finished. Dust cover is signed by German and Swiss watchmaker names.. Dust cover bears gift inscription for Christmas of 1904. Total weight is 91 grams. Diameter is 50 mm, height without bow is 62 mm. Condition Watch appears to be in good condition. Movement is running as it should. Case is in ok condition, with minor wear. It’s hallmarked for 14k gold, dust cover is also gold and is hallmarked.
