This listing is for a circa 1770 pair case English verge fusee pocket watch. This watch from top to bottom is all original. The watch in it’s pair case measures 1 7/8 inches or 46 mm in diameter. The inner case measures 42 mm in diameter. The dial is white porcelain and has both Roman and Arabic numerals. The hands are steel. The covering crystal is the original bulls eye lens. The movement is signed I. As you can see by the photographs the movement is quite beautiful. The condition is excellent. The watch is a strong runner. The dial has no hairlines and the case is in really immaculate condition. Please look at many photos for more on the look of this pocket watch. There is no reserve. Amazing mint condition early 1800′s English verge fusee Gold filled cased pocket watch with beautiful matching Gold ratchet gear key, both fitted into an outstanding sharp wooden display box. The Gold dialed face with front key wind hole and black Roman numerals is flawless. The eye appeal of the center wave design in the sunlight is astounding. The Gold key (unk if gold filled) fits perfect and tight, both for winding and setting the watch. Beautifully complementing moon style Gold hands. Perfectly clear high domed bulls eye crystal. The front cover opens and closes with tight hidges, as though the pocket watch was made yesterday. The Gold filled case has only a hint of the slightest wear that I can see on the stem. The milled design on the rear of the case is still sharp and crisp. The only markings appear to be the makers entails J. P inside the case. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge with big beautiful Diamond end stone has unique and ornate scroll work with a face as does the right side of the movement. The design correlates to the early English made movements from the 1800′s. There is a serial number of 7738 on the bridge plate. The movement is nearly mint in condition and super clean with unbelievable bright blue screws and is regulated by a finger pointing to a spotless silver disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 48mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs just outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about 1/2 or 1 minute slow within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time approx. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces. The beautiful Gold ratchet key works perfectly and looks beautiful with the Gold dial. Note all of my pocket watches have been personally serviced and restored to there best working order according to there age and condition. This is an amazing looking English verge fusee Gold filled pocket watch in mint condition, that could easily be a museum piece. This little treasure was stowed away somewhere for many years. A true show piece with matching key presented in a beautiful box, ready to be displayed or worn. I personally carried this watch which kept great time and found it very difficult for me to let go. Beautiful solid and clean English made by Charles Grahame, Liverpool. 39898 silver cased verge fusee. Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (u) 1818 Birmingham assay. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with big bold clear numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal and only has an edge repair near the 6 and a small edge flake near the 1. Sharp matching Gold colored hands. Sharp clear high domed crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together, nice and and tight. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge has unique and ornate scroll work with a face as does the right side of the movement. The movement is super clean with blue screws and is regulated by a finger pointing to a silver disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 57mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 or 2 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position……..
