DESCRIPTION : Robert Roskell, Liverpool, fusee with type II Massey crank roller escapement, 52mm, 14K gold tested original consular hunting case bearing Chester hallmarks, crowned “18″ stamp, date letter for 1829, casemakers’ marks “CJ” over “WG, ” the first unknown, the second perhaps William Griffiths of Liverpool, known to be working at this precise date, key-wind key-set, multicolor gold dial, Massey type II escapement with the roller jewel sandwiched between upper and lower rollers, 12-16 jewels, diamond end stone, gilt movement with plain balance cock, gilt locking dust-cap, s#42288. Gross weight of assembled watch 85.5 dwt (133.1 g). As with a number of Chester cases, the test result comes in below the pretended karat. CONDITION : Runs well upon winding but has not been serviced, timed or tested, good balance motion, good escapement function, plates show near mint gilding, hardly any oxide on steel components; dial excellent, minor scuffs in the stippled field around the numerals; hour and seconds hands near mint, replaced minute poorly fitted; original case shows medium wear, many fine scratches, no dents or dings, front cover with edge crack by hinge, engine-turned detail gone from back, later monogram deeply engraved in front and still quite crisp, highlight wear to carved borders and band; bow & pendant original, bow pivots freely and has central thinning at apex; good glass crystal. Beautiful Mint Condition solid and super clean English made by John Pearson of Louth, Serial no. 5771 Silver pair cased verge fusee. Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (A) of London assay. Beautiful near mint condition, off white colored porcelain dial with nice Bold Roman numerals and beautiful matching solid Gold colored hands. Absolutely spotless high domed crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has an unbelievably outstanding motion. The balance bridge is beautiful With its unique face and ornate scroll work. The movement is super clean (almost pristine) with bright blue screws and uniquely shaped push arrow index for regulating. The watch measures approx. 57mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 or 2 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with nice clear Bold Roman numerals and four sub quarter numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal with just a few very faint spider lines otherwise super clean with absolutely no chips. The matching thick solid Gold hands are a perfect complement. Sharp near spotless high domed Crystal is beautiful. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs beautifully with nice Balance motion. The balance bridge is beautiful with what appears to be an Urn and ornate scroll work, as does the left side of the movement. Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (S) 1893 from London assay. Absolutely flawless mint condition white colored porcelain dial with beautiful matching Blue hands and large 60 second sub seconds ring and Rare up/down wind indicator ring, which functions beautiful. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with great hinges and a nice clear Crystal. Rear cover springs open perfectly with a dust cover with key hole access for winding and setting of the movement. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has super motion and the main spring is nice and strong. The movement is jeweled at the balance and escapement and is nice and clean with sharp blue screws and is regulated by a push arrow index on the balance. The watch measures approx. 51mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 minuet within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. Description A beautiful English antique Art Deco solid silver pocket watch housed in its stunning solid sterling silver & guilloche enamel travel/night stand with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1917. Excellent quality genuine 99 year old example, the watch has a stylised engraved Art Deco case with an arabic dial and is in good working condition, keeps pretty good time. Housed in a wonderful silver & undamaged enamel travel/night case complete with its original velvet and silk interior and also has its original easel stand. There are no added personal inscriptions or monograms. Measurements The watch measures approx 1.95 inches (49mm) in diameter (excluding stem) and is 0.4 inches (9mm) deep. The night stand measures 3.95 inches (98mm) x 3.45 inches (85mm) and is 1.25 inches (32mm) deep. Date English antique solid sterling silver, the night stand has full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1917, (date letter “w”) and has the makers initials “H M”, (Henry Matthews). The pocket watch has English silver import hallmarks for London 1928 , (date letter “n”). Has the makers initials G. S, for Stockwell & Co. Condition The travel/night stand is in excellent condition , no splits or solder repairs and no nasty knocks or dents. Most importantly the beautiful blue guilloche enamelling is pristine , no chips cracks or repairs and virtually no surface scratching. Complete with original working easel stand too. The watch is in good condition and is in fine working order and keeps pretty good time. It has little age-related surface dents/bruises and has a little thin seam repair around the rear cover, nothing at all bad. There are no added personal engraved inscriptions. Outstanding spotless high domed bullseye crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with great hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has super motion and the main spring is nice and strong. The balance bridge is uniquely amazing and ornate with a beautiful large Diamond end stone. The movement is super clean with a unique stop/start switch that functions perfect. The movement and sub seconds hand, stops and then starts right up again when the switch is moved back. Pocket watch is regulated by a right side push arrow index. The watch measures approx. 56mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 or 2 minuetswithin approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 191 years ago. Pocket watch listed in the watch and clock makers of the world book as Charles, John. There is an old Watch and Clock makers paper from Lurcan (Ireland) inside the case. Watch comes with a sharp key for winding. Note all of my pocket watches have been personally serviced and restored to there best working order according to there age and condition. Just a reminder, care must be taken when winding these old watches not to overwind. They are true museum pieces. Beautiful solid and clean English made by William Reeves, Birmingham Serial no. 1541 silver cased verge fusee. Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (t) 1817 Birmingham assay. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with big bold clear numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal with just a faint spider line and only one small edge repair near the 3. Sharp matching Gold colored hands. Sharp near spotless high domed bulls eye crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge has unique and ornate scroll work as does the right side of the movement. The movement is super clean with blue screws and is regulated by a pointed arrow adjusted by a blue disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 56mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 minute within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position……..
