Pocket Watch Case

For Sale: one 18 size American Waltham 15 jewel Dennison, Howard, & Davis grade pocket watch with it’s original sterling silver case. This watch is in excellent condition for it’s age; it was made in 1856, and was professionally serviced about a month ago, which included a new alloy mainspring and regulating for timekeeping. The movement serial number is 4,092; the twelfth picture is of the dial side of the movement. It is in a B. Case, which has a serial number of 4185; the case is in remarkably good condition for it’s age; the spring that holds the front cover closed is nice and strong, but the spring that opens the cover has weakened some with age. It still opens without any trouble. The eagle mark can be seen in the sixth picture. The dial is in overall great condition with no chips, but there are two hairline cracks one to the immediate right of the one o’clock marker, and the other in between the forty seven and forty eight minute marks. Both run to the center at the hand hole. A number 6 winding key is included with the watch, but the acrylic stand is not included. The Pocket Watch can be dated to c1931 using the serial number on the movement and the case “h” letter Birmingham hallmark is for 1932/33 so that lines up perfectly. The Case is made by Dennison and both rear doors are made from and stamped solid 9ct Gold. The stem and the loop are also marked for 9ct Gold. There is some engraving on the back of Dust cover or inner door. Not on the rear door. The movement is the 7 jewel Waltham movement typical of the time. The watch appears to be working well, however as it is Antique no Guarantee is provided. The Dial has Waltham USA on the enamel. The case is in average condition with some small dings on the outside of the rear door. The dial, fingers and Glass all appear to be in good condition. The Watch is wound at the top, when lifted up this also is used to adjust the time. Total weight of the Pocket Watch 80.8g and has an approximately 48mm Diameter. This is a classic Gentleman’s Rose Gold filled Full Hunter pocket watch with a superb ALD “Dennison” 20 year Moon case made from plates of solid 10ct Rose Gold with metal strengthening core, a true Gold filled Dennison case. The watch has come from a great old estate and has a good original estate find feel, it winds very well and hand sets as it should and works with a very strong steady action, it has not been tested but its working very well at present, the case is also opening and shutting as it wants to be and its never been engraved, its also the original case to the watch and its all genuine, even has its tatty old shammy leather pocket which is possibly why its in such fine original condition still now.
