Estate fresh WWII US Army Air Corps Longines GCT navigation pocket watch with matching Type A-9 magnetic shield case. 24 hour dial GCT pocket watch with up/down power reserve wind indicator. 21 jewel Longines Cal. 21.29 movement adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. Longines signed Keystone base metal pocket watch case. 54mm exterior diameter excluding crown. Original matching Type A-9 magnetic shield anti-shock carrying case manufactured by Time Laboratory for Longines-Wittnauar. 2 piece case measures 4″ in diameter x 2″ tall. Locking mechanism that locks down lid is not present. Fresh out of a local estate. Very good vintage condition. Watch runs from a few minutes to a few hours and stops. Will need to be serviced before use. Movement appears extremely clean. Dial shows some patina and small scratches. Plastic crystal is perfect and appears to be a replacement. Pocket watch case shows some light plating wear and a few minor dings. Type A-9 case shows some minor rust and scratches. Type A-9 case locking mechanism is missing. Antique Hamilton Engineer Corps U. 690 on its enamel double recessed dial in excellent condition but with hairline under the no. Lever set mechanism works Lever by the red number 5. Yellowed plastic crystal detracts from its appearance. Bezel snaps closed properly; good hinge. Excellent yellow gold filled case has two small dings on bezel in area below the second bit. Back of case is outstanding. 1298477 dates this to about 1915. YGF case is Hamilton 25 year no. Winds “forever” so I assume it needs a new mainspring. Movement Size 16, 21 jewels. Case diameter is approx. 49 mm, excluding crown/bow assembly. No photo of movement because it does not swing out easily and I’m not about to force it. Maybe stem needs to be removed before it swings out – just a guess, I’m not a watchmaker. Registration may be required for some countries. Four photos just added show movement; Adjusted to five positions; model 992. Beautiful movement with balance moving freely. Hamilton 25 year case. That one had a good mainspring; it was in a base metal Keystone case; this is in a 25 year Hamilton yellow gold filled case.
