Pair Case Verge Fusee Calendar / stop watch pocket watch dated 1776. This is a key wind Verge Fusee Calendar (The calendar is just an ornamentation and is non working). / Stop watch pair case English made. This watch is dated at 1776. This watch is in very good working condition. Case: The outer Sterling silver case has the Silver halmark and date halmark on the inner bezel. (The same as the inner case) The outer case Has no big dings , just some small scratcher, but the push pin has lost some silver. On the inner back case has been solded over. TheMovement cases is stamped with the case maker L. B, the London halmark, the date halmark for 1776 and the Silver halmark. The case has dings and fine scratches. All hingers on both cases are good and the lids shut tight. The DIAL: The dial is white enamel with an ornamental Calendar hand, this hand does not function. With one repaired chip on the calenar dial near the center and there are some fine hairlines. The hands look to be gold and are in very good condition and this watch sets and winds with no problems. Has a bull nose crystal with no scratches. The Movement: The beautiful gold gilted Verge Fusee movement is signed I. Roberts LIVERPOOL No 28991. There has no gold loss and the movement is in perfect working order The balance cock has a diamond end stone and the movement is clean. Winds and set very well. Up for sale is a rare English verge Fusee key wind pocket watch. It was made in 1746 and the watch is all original. It measures 56 mm in diameter and has a really beautiful high quality movement. This case has the original enamel back and this watch has a working calendar function. Serviced : This movement was fully serviced on 06-14-19. All parts were removed, cleaned, oiled, and watch was adjusted. This movement is in amazing condition inside and outside. Movement : The all original verge key wind movement is in excellent condition. The movement has a very hard to find built in calendar that shows the date through the window on the dial. An early silver pair cased pocket watch with a lovely decorative square pillar verge movement signed’JL Wynne, ALRESFORD No291′ , dating to circa 1800, in good general condition. John Lawrence Wynne is listed as working in Alresford Hants. The inner and outer silver cases are in good general condition but are not original. I believe they have been made to measure for the movement at a later date. The only markings on the case are initials’MBW’ on the inner case, see photo. No hallmarks so presumably white metal not solid silver. The outer case measures 50mm diameter and the inner case 41mm diameter. The bulls-eye glass crystal is in good condition. The convex enamel dial has a little damage, refer to photos. The beetle and poker hands are in good condition. The decorative fusee movement has a verge escapement, with a pierced and engraved balance cock, square baluster pillars and includes a calendar function (see photo with dial removed). The movement catch spring has a lovely scroll decorative finish to the end. The balance swings fine but the movement doesn’t run, so requires attention, the calendar function is in working order. The movement is signed’J. L Wynne, ALRESFORD’ and numbered’291′. The movement is key wind and set which work fine, modern key included.
