Century English Verge in underpainted horn gilt pair cases. C/w Key (not original). The watch is in ticking order but because of it’s age no guarantee can be given on the time keeping. As with all vintage watches, no claims are made regarding accuracy of time keeping. Vintage watches may need servicing, even if they are in good running condition, and unless otherwise stated they may need to be cleaned, timed, oiled or adjusted. Full plate fire gilt movement with Round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, fine gold hands. There is a repair to the dial by 6 (see photo). Gilt metal pair cases, gilt pendant and bow. Plain gilt inner, maker’s mark “what looks like W P with an eight armed star above”. Gilt outer covered in translucent horn underpainted lady in costume, Vase and Plinth, Flora. The underpainted horn in a reasonable condition there is discoloration and split, the case is not a perfect fit around the top but it will close. Two 18th century verge fusee pocket watches. One is made by Charles Cabrier of London. This one is near mint has some scuffs from being handled over the years. Fully working , good crystal, beautiful painted dial, movement is in good condition. The other is signed F. I’m not familiar with maker. Nice repouse outer case but button is damaged but works fine. 18th Century pocket watch. This is very nice gilt-metal p/c verge by Daniel De St. (Servant) to her Majesty, London, no. 2791, fine original signed dial and hands. He was renowned for his very fine clock watches and also his repeating watches made for the Turkish and Islamic markets. Note the makers inscription on the movement Servant to the Queen this has to be one of the early uses of a Royal Charter. The 35mm Enamel Dial is in very good condition, has Roman Numerals and Arabic Minutes in the outer chapter ring. (The spring clip for opening the movement at 6 is missing) The Verge-Fusee Movement bears serial number 2791 and is in very good cosmetic and working order. The 38mm Inner Case 66mm incl. Pendant Ring is in very good condition, but has lost most of the gilt colour on the outside and bears the Makers Mark T. The 48mm Outer is in excellent condition, but again has lost most of the gilt colour. Watches by this eminent Maker rarely reach the market.
