Antique 1920 Elgin 12-Size 15-Jewel Grade 315 Pocket Watch in Defiance Case. Up for sale is a beautiful piece of American horological history: a vintage Elgin National Watch Company pocket watch. Based on the official movement serial number (22731586), this watch left the factory in 1920, making it a true century-old antique. Movement & Size:Size: 12s (a sleek, comfortable size perfect for vest pockets). Movement: 15-Jewel Grade 315 configuration featuring a beautifully damaskeened nickel finish finish. Condition: The watch winds smoothly and runs well when wound. Please note that it has not been timed for accuracy over an extended period, so a service/tune-up is recommended if you intend to use it for everyday precise timekeeping. Dial & Hands:Features a classic white dial signed with the prominent “ELGIN” text. Stylized Arabic numeral hour markers paired with a distinct outer track showing red 5-minute indicators. Sunken sub-second dial located at the 6 o’clock position. Condition Note: The dial shows an elegant, authentic vintage patina with minor spotting and hairline aging characteristic of its 100+ year journey. Case Details:Housed in a beautifully preserved Defiance openface case featuring an elegant Art Deco pattern of geometric vertical stripes and floral scrollwork on the reverse side. The interior case back is cleanly stamped with the “DEFIANCE” shield logo and serial number 0501059. Includes a vintage braided leather pocket strap/fob attached to the bow.
