Pocket Watch Case

This is for a Beautiful Original Antique Hamilton 956 Movement Railroad Grade Open Face Gold Filled 49 mm Case Pocket Watch. It is in great working condition. With the best pictures possible I will let you make up your own mind of its condition. Please see the pictures for the best description and condition. The watch has a grade 956 stem-winding movement with micrometer and a beautiful damscened finish. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 1 533957 dates it back to 19 20. Th e 956 model was produced from 1914 until 1930. The movement is accessed through the front of the watch, and it hinges out of the case. The inside of the case back is signed with the Hamilton details together with the wording “guaranteed 25 years” which probably relates to the gold filled case. Some collectors consider the 956 movement to be a low grade railroad watch. The railroads started with fairly modest specifications for railroad grade watches, with the specifications only being upgraded in the 1920s. When the watch was first introduced, 1,500 were actually made for railroad workers. Then Hamilton decided to make the watch a production model for general release to all customers. This particular watch itself measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. There is a small sh a llow indentation to the back of the watch but other than that the case is in good condition. The lens is in good condition, just a couple of very minor marks. The white enamel dial is in lovely condition and the double sunk dial and ornate numerals give it a charming appearance. Antique 1889 WALTHAM Model 1883 11J 18s Pocket Watch Grade 3 Elgin Case Working. This pocket watch was produced between October 1889 through March of 1890. Run quantity was 1500, serial number 4167727. Manufactured in Waltham, Massachusetts. Ran the watch for 24 hours and it seem to keep time, should probably still get it serviced if you’re going to use it. Please note that the minute hand is broken off at the end, and winding stem may need a little work, but will still set time and wind watch. This is a beautiful piece of history. And a great conversation piece. The fact that it tells time is just a bonus. You can feel safe with this one, it’s a soft wind and feels durable. I grew up in the early’70s and I would have never guessed that’Sears and Roebuck’ would be highly collectable. This watch is smooth winding and feels good in your hand. That’s a big range for what should be the same watch. The problem is they are not all the same. This is a beautiful Elgin pocket watch in a 14k yellow gold case with a pretty bird engraving. It has 7 jewels Size 12s, serial number 24093862. It runs but stops, certainly needs cleaning. The case is 4.5 cm in diameter and 6.2 cm top ring to bottom. It weighs 1.99 troy ounces or 62.1 grams. The case is in good condition, engraving nice and bright. The shield on the back is lacking a monogram, you could put your own on. The back flap doesn’t seem to close completely, the lip might be worn from being clicked closed by previous owners. It was just serviced, cleaned and oiled, keeps good time. The #s on the movement are, 10902416 made in 1904. This is a big watch, it measures from side to side 59.25 mm. The dial is clean with a couple of hairlines, you can see in the pictures. The glass is new. Winds and sets smooth. The case looks good, has a few small dents and dings, which is normal for its age.
