This is a beautiful piece of history. And a great conversation piece. The fact that it tells time is just a bonus. You can feel safe with this one, it’s a soft wind and feels durable. I grew up in the early’70s and I would have never guessed that’Sears and Roebuck’ would be highly collectable. This watch is smooth winding and feels good in your hand. That’s a big range for what should be the same watch. The problem is they are not all the same. This is a beautiful Elgin pocket watch in a 14k yellow gold case with a pretty bird engraving. It has 7 jewels Size 12s, serial number 24093862. It runs but stops, certainly needs cleaning. The case is 4.5 cm in diameter and 6.2 cm top ring to bottom. It weighs 1.99 troy ounces or 62.1 grams. The case is in good condition, engraving nice and bright. The shield on the back is lacking a monogram, you could put your own on. The back flap doesn’t seem to close completely, the lip might be worn from being clicked closed by previous owners.
