Pocket Watch Case

The Jewelry Store owner was a great watchmaker and had been in business since 1959. Over the years he had several contracts with local Railroad Unions and Kept the local railroad workers in good timepieces. He had a lot of good railroad watches and this is one of them! Brand: Hamilton Watch Co. Model: NEW OLD STOCK Unworn Unused Hamilton 992B Railroad approved pocket watch. Here is some additional information I found pertaining to this movement. Adjusted # of Positions. 22.3, 38.0, 57.1. Case Composition: Hamilton Stainless Steel (railroad case model 15). Running Condition: This watch runs obviously, however the oil in it is 51 years old, so I would expect to get it serviced just in order to get that old oil out and the new oil in. Case size not including bow or crown: 50.3mm in diameter. Comes with tissue paper and blue box. I might not have it, because I expect them to sell rather quickly. The other has a slightly different dial And… NO (darn it) they are not consecutive serial numbers. The jeweler told me he ordered several when he found out Hamilton was going to no longer make them. Being a 1970 model confirms as I think that was the last year they were made or right around there. The service history of this watch is unknown to me unless I state otherwise. Therefore you should expect to service this watch if you are a responsible collector. Often times these watches have been forgotten in a jewelers desk or in a back room for 30 plus years. I like to save them from that demise and get them back into the hands of collectors. It doesn’t take very long for old gummy oil to stop a movement from running (many times just a week or so) or even worse if the oil is dried out it might not take too long for the watch to grind itself up inside so please understand I can only tell you how the watch is performing here. This is a pocket watch that is 14kt gold (not gold filled). It is marked #572343 and 14kt gold. It weighs 35.31 grams (entire watch, not just the gold). It has a place for monogram which is amazing. Waltham American Waltham Watch Co. 18s, 15 jewel, model 1883, grade No. 820 pocket watch in very good working condition. Serial number 8775247 dates this pocket watch to 1898. Hunter case is hallmarked Fahy’s Montauk guaranteed 20yrs. All covers snap shut with no gaps or inconsistencies they open and close with no issues. The edges of the covers have beautiful engraved beaded detail. There are some signs of pocket wear, minor scratches but no worn spots in the gold finish. The dial is in excellent condition with no visible cracks or hairlines. Model 1883 15 jewel nickle plated movement is in very good working condition. The balance wheel has a good brisk motion. It winds, sets, runs, keeps accurate time. It may require cleaning, oiling and adjusting to maintain it as an accurate time piece. It is not in perfect condition it does show signs of normal patina for an antique pocket watch that is 122 years old. 1921 Illinois Sangamo Special, 17s, 23j, in excellent condition. Factory Original 14k Gold Filled Sangamo Special Case, in excellent condition with no dents, dings, or brassing, only very minimal sign of wear (light surface scratches). Hinged front bezel snaps tight and true, the hinge is perfect too. Does need a new crystal. Arrows Out dial is near mint condition. Hands are matching and correct, great condition. Rear bezel threads on and off as smooth as butter, perfect. Bow, pendant, and crown are all perfect! Bow hold any position, Crown has beautiful fluting. Winds up as smoothly as true as possible.
