In this listing we are happy to present this truly wonderful Swiss (Unmarked) Platinum High Grade Ultra Thin Pocket Watch with diamonds fully adorning the case and bow. Most likely this watch was made by Henry Capt or Haas Neveux. In the 1910s, ther were very few watch movement manufacturers that were capable of making high grade ultra thin movements and Henry Capt or Haas Neveus were two of the best. With the case and crystal intact this watch is slightly under 6cm in terms of thickness. As can be seen from the quality of the movement with extra fine winding wheels, capped escapement, large ruby jewels etc. This was a very expensive watch over 100 years ago with a diamond-encrusted platinum case. The platinum case has PUR wording which means pure, thus the case has more than 90% platinum and probably more in the 95% purity range. To put luxury over-the-top, the entire case band and bow (also hallmarked platinum) has been fully encrusted with old mine cut diamonds. Condition-wise the watch runs well but we cannot guarantee timekeeping accuracy or longevity as we don’t know its service history. Antique pocket watches like this specimen will likely need full service to run normally, it is the sole decision and responsibility of end-user to service or not. We will not accept return based on claim of functional issues. Cosmetically the watch is in great shape with no major faults or problems. Total weight is 41.3 grams. Lincoln Grade 16 Size 21 Jewels. Finely Accurate Timekeeping see Testing. Lincoln grade watch was price positioned to be slightly less costly than the Bunn Special about 9% less. Materials like ruby and sapphire jewels, gold train and balance jewel screws were the same as the Bunn but the movement was less elaborately decorated and the Bunn was advertised to have “Extra Quality Jewels”. Approximately 13,260 A. Lincoln grade watches were produced. The case is a Keystone gold filled warranted for 10 years in very good condition, no brassing or abuse. The case appears to be original to the movement and not a replacement. Lids screw on & off correctly. Crystal is scratch free. The gold train & jewel setting movement is clean with No discoloration and very minor service marks. The engine turning decoration pattern is all intact. Black letter filling is all there with very minor imperfections. All setting and winding functions work positively and correctly. Dial has a hairline and a minor chip at 5 o’clock. The watch was observed running for 24 hours in the dial and stem up positions. The watch lost 4 seconds during the 24 hour hours. Further regulation of the watch I’m sure would improve it’s accuracy even more. I have no history of the watch and assume that it’s due for professional serving and adjustments. C1917 Hamilton Grade 978 16 Size 17Jewels. Approved for electric interurban railways and street railway service. They were the official watches of the Conestoga Traction Company, which served Hamilton’s home town of Lancaster and surrounding communities. These railway types required a double-roller, steel escape wheel, adjustment to temperature and 3 positions, standards that were met by the grade 978.
