MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Four square pillars, silver regulator disk and blued screws. West, London and numbered (2982). The movement is in good original condition, and is running well. DIAL : The white enamel dial is in very good condition, with just a few light scratches, and no repairs or hairlines. Fine gold beetle and poker hands. INNER CASE : 22ct gold, hallmarked for London, 1769, makers mark IW. There is slight compression to the gold around the band, a few light bruises to the back and some bruises to the bezel. The stem has been reattached, but the stem and bow are in good condition and appear to be original. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bulls eye crystal is fine. OUTER CASE : A fine quality 22ct gold pair case with repousse decoration showing a classical scene. In good condition with just a little wear to the high points of the repousse work. The hinge and catch are fine and the bezel snaps shut firmly. There is a William West recorded in London from about 1723 until his bankruptcy in 1776.
