The sparkling natural diamond is bezel set with a deeply engraved star surround. This beautiful antique timepiece is a size 6s has a case diameter of 34mm. The watch weighs a substantial 37 grams, about half of which is 14K gold. I mention the gold content for a base value only. I would never destroy a beautiful antique gold pocket watch for the gold content. This fine antique Elgin is in about mint condition with no dings, dents, scratches or repairs. All covers open to exactly 90 degrees. The front cover pops open to 90 degrees when the stem is depressed. The bow is excellent with none of the wear or looseness commonly found. The watch is stem wind and set. The wind is silky smooth and it keeps excellent time. Note the incredible hand chased decorations that completely cover this 11mm thick pocket watch! Each cover features intricate florals, scrolls and flourishes that continues onto the case edge. Please examine the many photos for a close look. There’s an elegant monogram cartouche on the front cover that holds a very light monogram that can be easily buffed out if desired. The signed ” ELGIN ” snow white porcelain dial is pristine. Note the gorgeous pink highlights with gold decorations and gold scroll hands. With black Roman numerals and a small seconds sweep with gold hand. All three covers are 14K solid gold and snap tightly closed. The inside rear cover is stamped. 14K 87863 with the diamond bezel set at the center. The inside of the polished 14K gold cuvee has a matching stamped number ” 87863 “. All serial numbers match, proving the watch to be all original. The watch has also been professionally tested and is fully guaranteed to be solid 14K gold. Excellent 14K Solid Carved 4 Color Gold 33 Jewel Minute Repeater. This is a Minute Repeater in an excellent 4 color carved solid gold case that is appropriately hallmarked 14K. It runs fine, keeps good time and repeats the time in hours, quarters and minutes. The movement has 33 jewels and a temperature compensating balance with Breguet overcoil hairspring. It is signed “Poitevin, Geneva”. It is stem wound and stem set. The front of the case has a 4-color gold applique with an empty medallion and the back has hand engraved and carved stars. The 14K inside back dust cover is marked “Claude W Wright”. The crystal is mineral glass. The case is 48.9 mm in diameter and the entire watch weighs 3.0 oz.
