Century English Verge in underpainted horn gilt pair cases. C/w Key (not original). The watch is in ticking order but because of it’s age no guarantee can be given on the time keeping. As with all vintage watches, no claims are made regarding accuracy of time keeping. Vintage watches may need servicing, even if they are in good running condition, and unless otherwise stated they may need to be cleaned, timed, oiled or adjusted. Full plate fire gilt movement with Round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, fine gold hands. There is a repair to the dial by 6 (see photo). Gilt metal pair cases, gilt pendant and bow. Plain gilt inner, maker’s mark “what looks like W P with an eight armed star above”. Gilt outer covered in translucent horn underpainted lady in costume, Vase and Plinth, Flora. The underpainted horn in a reasonable condition there is discoloration and split, the case is not a perfect fit around the top but it will close. ANTIQUE 1759 TICKING SILVER PAIR CASE VERGE FUSEE POCKET WATCH BY THOMAS BROWN BIRMINGHAM! The dial is later on this watch. The pair cases match on the hallmarks and date the watch to 1759. The design of the movement bears this out. Grotesque mask on the balance cock. Pierced balance cock foot. Seems to be in good running condition. The cases have tarnish and smoothing. Slight indented ring around innner case where it fits iin outer case. Button on outer case shows some damage but still works. This watch has a bullseye crystal. And as stated the dial is much later than the rest of the watch. The hands probably are as well. Diameter of the outer case is about 49.47mm. The dial measures about 36.67mm as it fits into the inner case. Comes with a generic key. We appreciate your understanding if there is a slight delay.
