Antique Pair Cased Verge Champleve Dial Pocket Watch. Signed Ewd Bayley, London, circa 1740. Gilt fusee movement signed and numbered 105, square baluster pillars, silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals signed John Ballard (probably the first owner), arcaded minute track, beetle and poker hands. Both cases with maker’s mark GB for George Bruvet & a Lion for sterling silver. Inner case numbered 105, 49mm wide see Photo’s. Both cases with small surface scratches, outer case has minor dents, outer case bezel is slightly springing when closed. The watch has a Later glass, dial with small scratches, winding smoothly, movement in going order. As with all vintage watches, no claims are made regarding accuracy of time keeping. This is a very rare enamel gilt and shagreen (shark skin) outer case for a late 17th or early 18th century verge pocket watch. I have taken pictures with the digital vernier so you can see the sizes to see if your watch will fit this outer case. T he case has an enamel panel to the back and green studded sharkskin to the case ribs. The shagreen is mostly intact and in remarkable condition for a case that is nearly 300 years old. For sale is an antique pair cased verge fusee pocket watch. Fabulous watch, made in a gilt metal. No running but potentially a very nice watch once restored or good for parts. Movement by John Hart of London, dated 1794. Measures approximately 46mm in diameter. Non working but a good project. Balance and fusee chain appear to be intact. When wound, the cogs will turn very quickly until the watch runs down. Missing hands and glass but dial in excellent condition. 18th Cent Gilt Pair Cased Verge Pocket Watch by Charles Clayton, London c. This listing is for an English 18th century verge fusee pocket watch by Charles Clayton, London, circa 1760. In reasonably good condition and good working order. The watch has a square pillar verge fusee chain driven movement with pierced balance cock and Tompion regulator. The movement is working well and runs the full length of the chain. Couple of teeth missing from the contrate wheel but doesn’t affect the running of the watch. Movement signed “Cha Clayton, London, 2993″. Gilt metal pair case. Majority of the gilding has worn off over time. Both cases clip shut. Some signs of wear and light dents commensurate with the watches age, please see pictures for more details. The original white enamel dial is in good condition for its age, some minor scratches but no major damage. Bullseye glass in good condition. The watch measures approx 50mm across. The movement has been removed from the case to photograph. All my watches are tested on a flat surface.
