Stunning Beautiful condition Rare 1788 English made by J. Stanton of London Serial no. 3535 Silver pair cased verge fusee. Gleaming Solid sterling silver matching pair case is Silver hall marked (n) 1788 of London assay. Beautiful condition white colored porcelain dial with nice Bold Black Roman numerals and sharp clean 5 minuet chapter ring. The dial has a few very light spider lines and some surface scratches. Extremely unique Rare perfect condition original solid Gold sun burst style hands. Outstanding near spotless high domed crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has super nice motion with a nice strong tick. The balance bridge and right side plate with its intricate hand filed thru scroll work give the movement an amazing depth perception. Truly a piece of art. The movement is near mint Condition with unbelievably stunning blue screws and a Sharp silver disked index for regulating. Pocket watch measures a nice 52mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked it was running +/- 2 or 3 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 229 years ago. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces and always remember to wind counter clockwise. Good verge fusee pocket watch from 1780s. Movement us signed by Jn. Camden in London and bears serial number. London hallmarks seems to date inner case to 1786. Outer case is made in repousse technique and is decorated by antique scene. Outer case has traces soldering and repair, please see photos. Good quality British verge movement of second half XVIII. Nice balance bridge with peacock bird. Movement is in working condition, though I don’t guarantee it keeps time. The dial has some hairlines, chis and minor reparation near 12 hours, please see photos. Outer case diameter is 52mm, height is 58mm, thickness is 30mm. Watch comes with key. The dial shows no chips or hairlines at all and is truly beautiful. Absolutely spotless high domed bullseye crystal. All case covers open, close and fit nicely together. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has nice motion. The balance bridge is beautiful With its unique scroll work. The movement is near mint with sharp blue screws and a Spotless silver disked index for regulating. The disk is nicely seated in a raised ribbed housing. An interesting note for the watch collectors is this movement shows the slow conversion from the intricate filigree work on the movement plates to a much more subdued plain look, yet still using the older silver disked regulation. This was made in 1868 by John Denne of London and appears to be all original. The key wind movement has 4 jewels and a key will be included. It is in a beautiful sterling silver Hunter’s case and has a glass crystal. The case is in very good condition, and has the original repair paper inside the lid. The hinges are good but the lift spring does not work as it should. The dial is in very good condition and t his beautiful watch runs great and keeps good time.
