Antique American Waltham pocket watch, P. Bartlett grade, 17 jewels, adjusted. Movement serial 10570934 dates to circa 1901 (Model 1899, 16 size). ” “17 Jewels, ” “Adjusted, ” “Safety Barrel. Housed in a Philadelphia Watch Case Co. Gold-filled case marked “Guaranteed Twenty Years, ” case serial 8253780. The case back has a hand-engraved script monogram. This is a gold-filled (not solid gold) case – base metal with a bonded gold layer. White enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, red outer minute track, and sub-seconds dial at 6, signed Waltham. Condition – honest disclosure. Running at time of listing. Dial has a hairline crack visible crossing the center toward the lower dial. Otherwise the enamel is bright with no major chips noted. Case shows brassing/wear on the bezel edge and pendant, consistent with age and use. A solid, genuine turn-of-the-century American pocket watch.
