Features an open face design with a white enamel dial, black Arabic numerals, and blued steel hands. Rockford produced railroad-approved watches. Size 18s, measures approximately 2.25 inches across the outside. The chrome-plated case is vintage Illinois Watch Case Co, featuring an engraved locomotive on the case back, highly detailed, relief-engraved steam locomotive puffing smoke down a set of tracks, iconic to vintage cases produced by Illinois Watch Case Co. Marked “Illinois Watch Case Co, Spartan”. “Spartan” was a specific trade brand introduced between the late 1920′s and early 1930′s. Antique internal movement, a John M. Smyth Co Special, 17-jewel American movement. Features intricate damaskeening (decorative pattern on the plates) and is adjusted. Produced in Chicago, IL. It uses the highly regarded Illinois “Getty” model movement structure. Engraved with “Adjusted”, signifying it was precisely calibrated at the factory to account for variations in environment factors like temperature or operational positions.
