All sources identity MONARCH Cases as being Gold Filled. I believe this case to be Nickel but have been unable to identify ir find another example. Research indicates FAHYS Watch Cases Co. Went out of business during the Great Depression. Best guess this case was manufacturered shortly before company closed doors permanently.. Regardless the case and dial compliment each other. Overall a beautiful watch, and a unique piece of 1920′s Americana and the shifting styles and attitudes as seen in Post WW1 America. Watch winds sets and runs, but has not been checked for accuracy…
After a recent serviced, demagnetized, this pocket watch is now operating smoothly and maintaining good time. Smooth tension hand clutch, neither too tight nor too loose. New glass crystal, blue steel hands and an impeccable enamel dial free of fractures. There are several carved lettering on the movement and back case: Imperial, BUREN Watch. Illinois silver color case with engravings of creative embellishment. Without having to worry about maintenance or repairs, this pocket watch is ready to use. Dimensions: case size 43.5 mm, movement diameter 36.7 mm (from back-case side), thickness 10.8 mm from top crystal to rear case.
