The silver outer case is hallmarked for London 1769/70, initials’JA’. The case is in good condition, the only damage being wear to the catch button. The reverse is engraved with a fancy monogram. The outside diameter of the case measures 49mm. The silver inner case is hallmarked for London 1780/81, initials’RP’. The case is in good general condition, the stem attachment has been repaired at sometime past. The outside diameter of the inner case measures 40mm. The inner case is original to the movement, the earlier outer case is a good marriage. The high dome glass crystal is in good condition. The convex enamel dial has some edge damage, see photos. The hands are as per the photos. The decorative fusee movement has a verge escapement. The mainspring barrel has an external tensioner operated with a small key (not supplied). The movement is signed’Thos King, Alnwick’ and numbered’160′. The movement is key wind and set, no key. NOTE : Thomas King is listed as born 1744 and working at Narrowgate, Alnwick c1773 (died 1824).
