HAMILTON 992B 21 JEWEL 16s 2-TONE MODEL 3 CASE RAILROAD POCKET WATCH

Hamilton 992B 2-Tone Case. 16 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Grade 992B pocketwatch with uncommon 2-tone Hamilton Model 3 case. Case is a Bar Over Crown style that is marked “Hamilton Railroad” on top of the crown, and case has a gold filled center portion with stainless steel front and rear. Inside of case back is marked “Base Metal” but is in fact steel, and this marking is the norm for this type of case. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel “Hamilton Railway Special” signed dial. Movement serial number is C137758. Running and a very nice looking movement with just some typical mild surface marks. Dial faces up very nicely with just a light hairline in the outer chapter at the 22 minute position and a few very small surface nicks, one of which shows up as a small white spot to the lower left portion of the 8 O’clock numeral. Case is very strong with an excellent in hand look and feel and with the original brushed finish on the rear still visible. Case threads can be a bit touchy lining up at the starting point of putting the front and rear on and at the finish point of taking the rear off, this is quite common among these stainless and gold filled cases but once in line threads turn smoothly and correctly.
