Estate fresh WWII US Army Air Corps Longines GCT navigation pocket watch with matching Type A-9 magnetic shield case. 24 hour dial GCT pocket watch with up/down power reserve wind indicator. 21 jewel Longines Cal. 21.29 movement adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. Longines signed Keystone base metal pocket watch case. 54mm exterior diameter excluding crown. Original matching Type A-9 magnetic shield anti-shock carrying case manufactured by Time Laboratory for Longines-Wittnauar. 2 piece case measures 4″ in diameter x 2″ tall. Locking mechanism that locks down lid is not present. Fresh out of a local estate. Very good vintage condition. Watch runs from a few minutes to a few hours and stops. Will need to be serviced before use. Movement appears extremely clean. Dial shows some patina and small scratches. Plastic crystal is perfect and appears to be a replacement. Pocket watch case shows some light plating wear and a few minor dings. Type A-9 case shows some minor rust and scratches. Type A-9 case locking mechanism is missing. Up for sale, is a near mint and very rare French gilt verge fusee antique enamel back scene, and white gem set case pocket watch, circa 1790. Made by an eminent French watchmaker. The watch has just been cleaned and serviced and the movement is in perfect working condition. It runs to the end of the chain very smoothly and keeps very good time. It is a rare and lovely gilt case pocket watch with an original unrestored and 100% genuine enamel mint scene on the back side. The case has white set gems, both in the front bezel and to the back side. The watch is 45 mm wide, and weighs 81 gr’. It is late 18. Century French verge, in a gilt, and enamel consular case. The back of the case is decorated in lovely enamel colours depicting a country scene of two beautiful figures in the woods. Full plate fire gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved cock. Plain three arm gilt balance wheel with blue steel spiral hairspring. Signed white enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. BEAUTIFUL shaped gilt ornamented hands. I would think that the minute hand is not original and has been replaced. The dial is in very good condition except for a professionally restored small part around the key winding aperture. The dial is also signed : Berthoud , Paris. Was French watch maker who came from a very large French family of watchmakers which one of them is the very famous watchmaker Ferdidand Berthoud , who moved to Paris and became a watchmaker and a clockmaker to the king. I do not think that this specific watch was made by Ferdidand Berthoud but rather then one of his great members of his great watchmakers family. This is a very rare and spectacular pocket watch that is very hard to find.
