Rare Ulysse Nardin caliber (probably made exclusively for Ericsson) featuring even more rare high-grade finishing version. Regularly, this UN-Ericsson calibers appear without jeweled centre staff, without chatons and without sapphire on balance top (scroll down for a pic from Dr Crott catalog). Quite desirable and unusual combination of famous watchmaking names. As found – something wrong with mainspring. Balance spins freely and contacts the going wheel; rest parts seem good as well. Never polished case as I conclude from lovely external patina and bright shiny internals. Perfect signed enamel dial. All original untouched condition. Extremely decorative, original Tula silver case with a fine floral Art Noveau Décoration. Case with gold hinges, the cuvette is inscribed “CHRONOMETRE” No. 11567, Ulysse Nardin, Locle, Genéve, Grand Prix Paris. Swiss silver control mark “Bear” with L for Locle. Case maker mark “Fly” for Association Ouvriere / Locle. Case and movement have identical numbers, minimal restoration of the tula decoration over the hinge area. Otherwice in mint condition. Fine, perfectly preserved anchor chronometer movement , grained and gilded, with Guillaume chronometer balance, straight line lever escapement, Breguet overcoil with end curve, gold train, index fine adjustment. Signed, perfectly preserved enamel dial , blued spade steel hands. Dial and hands in perfect condition. The watch is in the original box with original chronometer certificate from 1907, submitted by Paul D. Nardin, Observatory Chronometer 1st class. There is also a handwritten accompanying letter. Diameter: 58mm, Weight: 161g, original mahogany casket 17x12cm ; in excellent condition. In this completely original state of preservation with original papers and original box, the watch is an absolute rarity – it is the only observatory chronometer with a niello decoration known to me! ONE OF A KIND historic WWI German pilot Ulysse Nardin Alabaster stone case watch. This unusual watch has been awarded personally by the German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II to pilot ace Karl Bohnenkamp. Vizefeldwebel Karl Bohnenkamp was a World War I flying ace credited with 15 aerial victories. He scored his first victory on 21 September 1917 and continued through 28 October 1918. His 15 victories made him the leading ace in his squadron. He was awarded the Military Merit Cross on the latter date The watch comes from his family estate. The watch has a hand carved Alabaster stone case, depicting the cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm II beneathe the royal crown.
