The lever-set movement is marked: Hamilton Watch Co. 21 Jewels 992 Double Roller 2627245 Adjusted 5 Positions Elinvar. The movement features gold jewel settings and a gold center wheel! The double-sunk Montgomery dial is marked: Hamilton. The dial has one noticeable hairline between 10 and 11 o’clock. The inside of the case back is marked: Wadsworth 10KT Gold Filled Pat. The bar-over-crown case is in good condition, only very light scratches and small dings on the back and edges, and some small areas of wear-through up around the crown. The crown is marked Hamilton Railroad. The crystal on the watch is in great condition. The pocketwatch will currently wind/set properly, and will run when wound. This is a RE-CASED Vacheron & Constantin high grade watch with 21 jewels and 8 adjustments. It does wind, set and tick. It is pendant set. Mechanically in excellent condition though I do not know it’s service history. The dial is signed as well as the movement. No issues with the dial or hands. The case is NOT original and is gold filled. It does have a LATER applied gold design with diamonds to the front of the case that I believe is solid gold. Inside the case covers there are some stains and other marks. The outer covers look nice. The crown sticks out too far. Covers open and close as they should but do open a little past 90 degrees. Hallmarked 1818 which would make it an early lever watch by a man who was early into lever watches. Movt #29424 I believe this to be the real deal as the workmanship is superb in every way. The word patent clearly displayed as well as the name Robt Roskell Liverpool. The hall marks are correct and matching. It is sophisticated enough it has a means by which the watch continues to run even while winding (maintaining power). It takes right off upon even winding it a little(caution wind counter clockwise). This watch is very collectible as it’s a nice English lever watch made at the transition from rack lever to lever making it a very early lever watch, As stated this watch winds sets and runs extremely well. Having good swing to the balance and runs without stopping to the end of the chain. A couple small dents in the outer case is about the only faults I can find. The enamel dial and gold hour and minute hands look original and perfect.. The bulls eye glass appropriately shows a little wear. There is 2 watch papers from various places and a blank piece of very old paper inside the outer case. Thank You and happy collecting. Adding to the description i found a list of serial numbers for this maker and it would put the movt at 1824 even though the case hallmarks are 1818.. I have no idea if makers fitted to the case or vice versa. Also this doesnt appear to be a rack lever but rather an english lever / Massey Lever watch.
