Outer 18 CT gold case well hallmarked the size is 32 m. The case is in near mint condition. All the hinges work well on the case. The weight of the watch is 29 grams. The dial in perfect condition (save a very small chip at winding hole). Exceptionally fine original gold hands. The glass is very high clean and clear. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs well. Time keeping aprox C + or+ – 1-2 minuets per hour. With a very fine decorated and engraved balance cock, a silver Tompion regulator. Signed on the back plate L EPINE PARIS a well listed maker. The watch will come with an old key. Just great to have such an amazing and interesting watch that is as good as this one, and it just has every thing one could want on a fine verge watch, very hard to find a watch in this condition with all that it has going for it. This watch is so very well priced, and well presented. An absolute must for any serious collector or would make a wonderful present. An early silver pair cased pocket watch with a lovely decorative square pillar verge movement signed’JL Wynne, ALRESFORD No291′ , dating to circa 1800, in good general condition. John Lawrence Wynne is listed as working in Alresford Hants. The inner and outer silver cases are in good general condition but are not original. I believe they have been made to measure for the movement at a later date. The only markings on the case are initials’MBW’ on the inner case, see photo. No hallmarks so presumably white metal not solid silver. The outer case measures 50mm diameter and the inner case 41mm diameter. The bulls-eye glass crystal is in good condition. The convex enamel dial has a little damage, refer to photos. The beetle and poker hands are in good condition. The decorative fusee movement has a verge escapement, with a pierced and engraved balance cock, square baluster pillars and includes a calendar function (see photo with dial removed). The movement catch spring has a lovely scroll decorative finish to the end. The balance swings fine but the movement doesn’t run, so requires attention, the calendar function is in working order. The movement is signed’J. L Wynne, ALRESFORD’ and numbered’291′. The movement is key wind and set which work fine, modern key included.
