Antique Sterling Silver Pair Case Verge Fusee Pocket Watch. Movement has Timothy Murphy AD 1816. The movement is in ticking order & can keep good time. But please remember that the watch is some 200 years old. The watch will work fine face up & face down it will tick away in the vertical position. But can be temperamental in this position and stop! Vintage watches may need servicing, even if they are in good running condition, and unless otherwise stated they may need to be cleaned, timed, oiled or adjusted. The heavy solid sterling silver pair cases is a good fit with matching hallmarks in excellent condition for it’s age some 204 years old. The inner case has a London hallmark, with the letter T c1814 A lion for sterling silver with the makers mark M. Norman Street, St Luke’s, London. (registered May 1810 & 1816). The hinge is in a good condition and it opens and shuts correctly. It has a high dome bulls eye glass crystal in very good condition. The outer case is also in excellent condition, no damage, a good strong hinge and the opening button is in good working condition. (the opening bracket has some rust) see photo! The case has some small pocket wear marks. However, the two cases are a really good fit. The movement is a verge fusee with winding at the back (anti clockwise) and setting at the front. The movement is in a good clean condition. The dial is a beautiful white enamel, it has some hairline crazing. It is finished with a set of nice gold hands.
