Type IIP Elinvar, adjusted to temperature and 6 positions, double roller, 60-hour Motor Barrel, raised gold jewel settings, full gold train, gold balance screws, Reed regulator, ¾ nickel plate, stem wind, lever set railroad-grade movement. If you’re in the market for a popular and sensible watch investment, this is your ticket. This fine 60-hour model is in superb working order, with an excellent balance motion that is flat, true, wide-arced and strong-running. The movement is a smooth wind, starts right up with a single flick of the wrist (typical 60-hour style), and lever sets as designed. The movement holds time well within 30 seconds per week face-up after years of prolonged and careful hand-regulating. In the appearance department this Model 15 60-hour Bunn Special is looking most excellent, with bright, 100% tarnish-free and clean winding wheels and clean nickel plates that show off the distinctive Illinois Model 15 circular damascene pattern, spotless clean and correct Reed regulator apparata, 99% of the engraving black paint intact adds real big-time value! , clean looking inside as well as out, and ripping and running holding railroad time! Dial : Illinois “Blindman Monty” style, 16 size, open face, double sunk enamel reproduction, ultra bold black Blindman Arabic numerals with surrounding Montgomery Patented “arrows-out” red five-minute-markers and black minute-markers, correct for all 161As! This dial is in perfect condition, with nary a trace of any hairlines, chips, cracks, chaffing, stains or scratches!!! Hands : Original finish (not doctored up aftermarket) RR-bold blue matching spade hour and pointer minute hands, correct for all 1930s Illinois railroad-grades and in near mint condition, with practically all of the factory original bluing still intact! Case : Illinois “Bunn Special Model” #108, 16 size, open face, Wadsworth 10K smooth Deco style yellow gold fill, slot right, screw-back-and-bezel, fancy dress or more likely railroad case! Here’s Illinois’ Depression-era Model 108, with a wide, mirror-image conserved back framed by the classic triple-circled Art Deco pattern, a thick railroad-approved neck, wide, wind-able crown, and distinctively designed arching engraved bow! This much sought after #108 Deco case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The matching original crown’s fluting is still ultra well defined for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely but, by design, does not extract, so only a lever-set e. Bunn Special movement will work inside. The bow is also its correct original engraved style, shows zero brass or damage, and holds tight to all positions. The crystal is a brand-new, newly installed thick beveled mineral glass model and clear as can be. The case does show exceptionally minimal wear, including very faint and even carrying wear, zero doodlings, no marrings either, zero repair notations even, just a touch of brass around portions of the exposed edge of the back and a small amount of the frame on the left, and certifiably no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions!! I’ve owned this fine timepiece for 20-odd years and it has always run accurately and consistently a real pleasure to own!!
