ILLINOIS BUNN SPECIAL 21 JEWEL 18s HUNTING CASE RARE RAILROAD POCKET WATCH

18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocketwatch. Rare hunting case version of this railroad watch with a total production of only 430 made according to the Meggers Illinois book. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel Gothic numeral dial and is housed in a gold-filled Plymouth hunting case. Movement serial number is 1973841. Running after needing a small twist to get started. Nice looking movement with good color and luster and some average scattered surface marks. Dial faces up well but has hairlines scattered in the outer chapter and also has some chipping tight around the center hole underneath the hands. Case has even wear to the engraving, a ding on the left side of the frame, and spots of wear to brass on the pendent, crown, and bow. Front lid of case needs a small nudge at the start of its opening motion before the liftspring pushes it open the rest of the way.
