For your consideration is this original antique Elgin pocket watch in a beautifully engraved solid 18K gold full hunter case. The movement is marked serial number 450400, which was produced in 1876. Grade 53, Model 1, Class 48. This is a size 10 with 7 jewels. Key wind, 3/4 plate, going barrel, quick train, plain regulator. The case is marked K18 on the inside of the outer cover, and also marked A. Solid 18K gold case made by the American Waltham Company. The inside of the dust cover is also marked 18K with the matching serial number of 61113. The case is rather stunning and beautifully engraved. The front features a cupid with wings atop a floral decoration with a shield in the center. The back features a similarly engraved scene with cupid on the top, only this time there is a fine country home shown at center. Very clean and bright with full detail. Tough to find them in better condition. The watch weighs 70.7g on my gram scale. The case opens freely by pushing on top of the crown. The dial is clearly marked with the Elgin logo, and the porcelain is in EX condition with no chips or cracks. All hands are present, and the crystal is also in EX condition with only very fine marks. The watch winds and sets easily, and has been keeping time and running well. No key is included but replacements can easily be found. Really a beautiful example in fine working condition!
