Up for sale is a beautiful near mint and very rare under – painted scene and under-painted dial picture antique pocket watch circa 1860 – made for the Chinese market. The watch has just been cleaned and serviced and the movement is in perfect working condition. It runs and keeps excellent time. It is a large and heavy under – painted and silver case pocket watch with an original and 100% genuine unrestored under painted mint scene on the front cover of the case. The watch is 50 mm wide, and weighs 93 gr’. Case: The unique, rare, and interesting silver case has under painted pictures from both sides, back and front. The back is a plain grey/green colour under painted cover, and the front side has the most beautiful under painted scene of a man and a woman with a dog in the country side. Both sides are in 100% mint condition. The inner silver cover that protects the movement has a nice engraved pattern, and is signed: Mi Chronometre, 22 Rubis. The case is numbered 16274. Movement: A very rare ornamented movement. Beautiful top brass plate – never seen such high quality engraving on a movement before. 22 rubies, and a very good lever escapement. The plate under the balance wheel is also engraved with high quality work. Balance wheel with compensation screws. In total: a very high quality movement. Dial: The dial is also unique as all the rest of this pocket watch parts. The centre of the dial is made from glass and it has a picture highly detailed and beautifully made that is under-painted. The picture is in good condition except for a few scratches. Roman numerals in mint condition, and black ornamented hands. This is a very rare and spectacular pocket watch that is very hard to find.
