THE CASES With two solid and strong plain polished Sterling silver case. The outer cover is hinged and has a spring back button catch to open and close the case. The inner plain polished case has a hinged front bezel to access the front swing out movement and a keyhole at the back to wind the movement. It has a Sterling silver verge bow. Both cases are in mint showroom condition, without any dents, pin marks or scratches, Both hinges are in good strong order with both case covers opening correctly to snap shut firmly. The outer case measures 56.5mm (approx 2.2 inches) in diameter, without including the top stem or bow measurement and the combined weight of both cases including movement is 146g (approx 5 ozs). The cases have no personal inscriptions and are both original to the movement. THE DIAL & CRYSTAL A white enamel dial with bold black Roman numerals and gilt spade hands and a bullseye mineral glass crystal. The dial is in mint condition without any hairlines or chips, the hands and bullseye type glass crystal are also in mint condition without any scratches or chips. THE MOVEMENT A key wound and key set full plate English Verge movement with chain-driven Fusee. Signed by listed clock and watch maker Geo. Border, Sleaford and serial numbered 88084 to match the case. Specification to include : Cylindrical pillars, broad flat steel balance under a fine pierced balance cock of foliate design incorporating a grotesque face mask. It has a Bosley type regulator with calibrated scale on the top plate with Slow & Fast. It is wound from the back and set from the front centre of the dial using the same provided watch key. The movement is in pristine condition without any discerning marks, the screws retain their original deep blue lustre. All mechanical parts are in A1 condition and perfect working order including the chain which runs it’s full length. It has been fully cleaned, oiled, serviced and tested in November 2018 and keeps to very good verge pocket watch time. 18TH CENTURY SILVER PAIR CASE VERGE FUSEE POCKET WATCH. IN GOOD CONDITION AND WORKING ORDER. A early eighteenth century English pair cased verge fusee pocket watch by A Charles, London. The gilded full plate movement is maker signed and serial numbered 206. The silver pair cases are in very good condition with their original bow and pendant, they carry matching hallmarks for London 1742 with the case makers mark EL Edward Leeming 24 Giltspur St. The white enamel dial has Black Roman hour numerals, black Arabic minute numerals and beetle & poker hands, it is one of the earliest examples of an enamel dial on an English watch. The outer case measures 50mm (approx 2) in diameter and the combined weight including movement is 116.5 grammes (4.1ozs). Condition: Both matching cases are original to the movement and have no dents or dings, the covers open and close correctly with good strong hinges. The dial has a faint hairline, with tiny chip at 6, the beetle and poker hands and bullseye crystal are in good order. The movement is in strong working order and keeps to good verge time. Very nice antique solid Silver pair Case verge pocket watch. 1807 London By Surridge, Bridgewater. Verge fusee movement, in good working order. Nice detailed balance cock. Looks to have good clean workings and runs well. Signed By Surridge of Bridgewater. Keeps time within 5 mins over 24hours. Excellent for a watch of this age. Missing the latch to secure it to the case but does not affect the running of the watch. Innner Case, is solid Silver hallmarked London 1807. Has typical ageing as to be expected. Case button has worn away. Good clean condition, just typical aging no damage. Slight pitting & Denys to the back. Doors all close together well. Very nice early appearance. White enamel dial, in ok condition, but has a hairline though the center. Domed crystal in decent condition with some small scratches. Overall a very nice, early, pre owned verge pocket watch.
