18th Cent Silver Square Pillar Pair Cased Verge Fusee Pocket Watch, John Lumprey, Banbury 1760. This listing is for a square pillar verge pocket watch, by John Lumprey circa 1760. In great condition and good working order. The watch has a square pillar verge fusee chain driven movement with large D foot pierced balance cock and Tompion style regulator disk. The movement is working well and runs the full length of the chain. Movement signed Jn’o (John) Lumprey, Banbury, 203. Sterling silver matching pair case. Unfortunately no visible hallmarks, but guaranteed silver, matching and original to the watch. It wasn’t uncommon to have silver watch cases made without hallmarks in the 18th century. Both cases in good condition with some signs of wear and light marks commensurate with the watches age, please see pictures for more details. The white enamel dial in reasonably good condition with a couple of light marks to the surface. Original steel beetle & poker hands. Original thick domed bullseye glass in good condition. The watch measures approx 53mm across. The movement has been removed from the case to photograph. All my watches are tested on a flat surface. The lever-set movement is marked: American Waltham Watch Co. 15 Jewels Safety Pinion 7713306. The movement dates to 1896. The case on the watch is in fair condition, there are large areas of wear-through on the finish, and a noticeable dent on the case back. The dial is marked: American Waltham. The dial is in good condition, just needs cleaned up – see photos. The crystal is missing. Inside the case back is marked: Keystone Watch Case Co 2929846. Inside the dust cover is marked: J. Boss 14k Guaranteed 25 Years 2929846. The watch will currently run if rocked back and forth. It sets properly, but will not wind.
