A little later Elgin 18 size pocket watch that is key wind and key set… Serial number indicates a manufacture date of 1883… The movement is quite ordinary, but the case is great… First the case appears to be a stem wind case with the crown, but when the movement’s out there is no hole in the case latch spring… The front bezel is also hinged… Look at photos, not much wear to the covers or the center band heavy engine turning.. No dents or dings… Front cover opens smart. Y to 90 degrees. Glass crystal is fitted to bezel… The gilded movement runs great and keeps time… Movements was cleaned snd oiled a few years ago. Compensated balance runs true and had good motion.. Appears to be 11 jewels.. Winding is smooth as is the setting.. A period key is included with the watch… Excellent white enamel dial with contrasting blue steel hand set..
