For sale is a rare 1910s Henry Moser 8 days running quarter repeating travel watch in steel and leather casing. The movement is in clean working condition with all the functions working properly. Dial perfect condition, with no damages. Blued steel hands are original. Inner steel casing is 67mm bezel diameter, patinated, but well preserved. Leather casing is worn, scuffed at the edges but whole with no major tear. Chime of the repeater is really nice. I have tried my best to capture the condition of the item on camera. Beautiful British pair case repeating pocket watch from middle of XVIII century. Case comes in 20k or better solid gold. Outer case is decorated with scene of Orpheus playing his harp in repousse technique. It’s genuine piece of chasing art. It’s quality piece with careful attention to all small details. Orpheus , ancient Greek legendary hero endowed with superhuman musical skills. Traditionally, Orpheus was the son of a Muse and Apollo, who gave Orpheus his first lyre. Orpheuss singing and playing were so beautiful that animals and even trees and rocks moved about him in dance. Movement is of excellent quality, as you can expect from expensive watch. The watch features rare 1/8 repeater with two hammers to silver bell. It gives single strikes for hours, double strikes for quarters and after another single strike if 1/8 passed. Please look video below the photos. Condition The watch in overall good condition, but has some minor flaws. Outer case is generally in nice condition with some minor damage from polishing, notable on Orpheus face. Inner case has traces of repair in it’s center, where bell is fixed to the case. The silver bell itself also has traces of reparation and soldering. Movement is in working condition. It runs in any position, though I don’t guarantee time keeping. Repetition normally strikes correctly, but occasionally it doesn’t strike fully, hard to reproduce. Probably it’s a matter of cleaning and oiling. Dial has tiny flake at 6 hours, otherwise very good. Please see photos and video. Outer case diameter is 46mm, height is 58mm. Total weight is 111 grams, only outer case is 27 grams. This chronograph is very similar to the 14s Waltham model. The Watch is running in front of me. It took a bit to get it going at first, which would indicate to me it has some gummed up oil and should be serviced. Since getting it to run, I have been able to get it to start the chrono, stop chrono and reset to zero with the crown pressure a few times. Nice antique pocket verge fusee watch from very beginning of XIX century. The back cover is decorated with beautiful enamel miniature with galant scene. The enamel is high quality one, most probably Geneva school. Case is made of gilt brass, rim is coin-grooved. Gilt is somewhere worn, and restored. Enamel has minor flakes to the edges, I cannot see any restoration. Painting seems to be without damages. Dust cover is missing locking pin. The dial seems to be in nice condition with tiny defects to edges. Movement is in running condition, ticks in every position, but I don’t guarantee that it keeps time. The repetition strikes hours with one gong, and quarters with other gong of other tonality. Please look video below the photos. Diameter is 55mm, height without bow is 73mm, weight is 132 grams.. Running well, but has not been serviced or tested by us, striking well with nice loud tone, full sequence past 12:45 with striking on two gongs for each quarter; calendar advances early in the evening, could be adjusted to move closer to midnight; dial has filled edge chip to side of date dial, another edge chip to side of seconds, hairline running from there through seconds down to 5; hands are near mint, the seconds only excellent; case shows little wear, complete engine-turned detail with little reduction, no dents or dings, tight bow, light wear to crown with a single section of cladding gone.
