Illinois 18s Pocket Watch. 17 Jewel Grade 65. Brackl Frayser Los Angeles Dial with Fortune Case. This is a running Illinois Watch Co. Pocket watch in its original nickel Fortune Trade Mark case, made in Springfield, Illinois in 1903. This is a Grade 65, an 18-size, 17-jewel, Adjusted full-plate movement with bright damaskeening and the distinctive Illinois decorative regulator. Serial number 1754975 for a 1903 production. The porcelain dial is private labeled “Brackl Frayser – Los Angeles, ” an early California jeweler who retailed Illinois watches in the early 20th century. The watch runs when wound and has been observed running steadily. No further timing or long-duration tests have been performed. As with all antique mechanical watches, a professional cleaning/oiling is recommended for long-term reliability. Illinois Watch Co. Serial 1,754,975 – 1903. Grade 65, Model 5. Full-plate nickel movement. Illinois Fleur-de-Lis style regulator. Porcelain enamel dial. Private-label: Brackl Frayser – Los Angeles. Blued steel hands. Good overall presentation (see condition notes). Nickel Fortune case (cuvette marked Fortune Trade Mark). Hinged back & inner dust cover. Crown winds and sets properly. Crystal and bezel intact. Bow tight and functional. This is a strong, complete Illinois 17-jewel watch with correct case and a scarce Los Angeles jeweler’s dial. Running when wound; no accuracy guarantee. Dial clean with expected light age (no distracting cracks from what is visible). Blued hands intact and correct. Case shows normal antique wear but no abuse – hinges secure. Movement appears clean and untampered with. Condition is overall very good, running but in need of service (see images).

Waltham Vanguard Model 1908 from 191516 size 23 jewel adjusted 6 positions serial # 20037984 in a Fortune GF OF #16 in a circle symbol serial #1382285. Note brassing on case and hairline at 5. I have no service history other than I have run it through an ultrasound and oiled the necessary locations. It winds and ticks for up to 40 hours but requires adjusting for optimum performance. I picked this up filthy and not operational but a good cleaning and addressing what was stopping the movement resulted in an operational watch. I have repaired the main spring and crystal. I noted the balance wheel serial differs from the movement so it was a previous repair. Note there is slight brassing of the case and hairlines at 5. This is a mechanical pocket watch not a quartz so keep in mind they are not the same for accuracy. I have dozens of watches like this that I will be listing as I finish working on them. I will get this to the post usually same day but up to 3 days depending on weekends/ holidays/ bad weather. Canada Post has labour disruptions which I have no control over but currently they are operating business as usual.

Ornate embossed gold filled case on this 1886 Columbus pocket watch. Overall good condition for the age. Minor scratches on crystal and some wear to case back.
