The Illinois Watch Co. Manufactured this movement, serial #2,529,400, in 1913. It is a Grade 65-E, an upgraded version of the grade 65. It is size 18, 17 Ruby Jewels in screw down settings, open-face, nickel, lever set, Model 6. This movement was factory adjusted to Temperature, 4 positions and Isochronism. The gold-filled movement markings are full and complete. They are, Illinois Watch Co. 65–Springfield–Adjusted to Four Positions–2529400–17 Jewels–Double Roller (circular by balance cock). This movement is equuipped with a polished golden oval head screw set, except for the balance cock screw, which is polished silver flat head screw. Even the patent regulator is golden colored. The large screws and the regulator show signs of corrosion and discoloration. The movement has many small spots scattered scross the plate. In my opinion, the best feature of this movement is the gold inlaid, skewed grid, damaskeen pattern. This damaskeen pattern reinforces the striking contrast between the silver colored background and all the gold accents. You can show off this beautifully damaskeened movement through the glass display back case. The dial is double sunk, glass enamel with standard black Arabic numeral hour markers and small dark red 5 minute markers. The dial signature is Illinois Watch Co. All three hands are polished, shiny blue. The minute hand has some corrosion and color loss. There is a hairline crack that runs from the center sub-dial to the edge through the 2.5 minute mark. There are some minor surface scratches that can only be seen in oblique light. I do not see and chips, gouges or other imperfections. The case is unnamed because someone cut a large circular hole in the middle of the back cover and put a crystal in so you can see the movement without taking the back cover off. I suspect this is a 3 oz. The bow, stem and crown are in good condition. The bezel is plain polish except for a band of ribbing surrounding the crystal. The crystal has 3 small hazy spots that appear as shadows on the dial. You should be able to remove these spots with the right solvent. The back cover crystal is clean and clear. The exterior of this case has a couple of faint spots and several small dents and squiggle lines. This 113 year old watch sets, winds and runs as it sits on my desk. These antique pocket watches are from 100 to 150 years old. Their functionality and accuracy depend on consistent, competent maintenance. I do not know the maintenance history of these watches. I do not service my own watches. If the listing states that the watch sets, winds and runs, it will be running when I place it in the mailing container. I cannot guarantee the function or accuracy of any watch I sell. I highly recommend that you have this watch serviced by a professional as soon as possible to maintain its functionality and accuracy.
