Covers do not go past 90 degrees when fully opened. Clean enamel dial No hairlines cracks or chips. Research indicates scarce movement. Holographic type design on the inside dust cover see pictures. The watch is in super condition and in my opinion, movement and case are original to each other but there is no way I can guarantee this. This is a very nice watch and movement and make an excellent addition to your collection or for first watch.

TheAmerican Waltham Watch Company had its beginnings in 1850 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The company was founded by David Davis, Aaron Dennison, and Mr. Their vision was to form a watch company that could producehigh-quality watches at a lower cost using interchangeable parts. Withfinancial backing from Samuel Curtis, the first watches were made in 1850, butproblems were encountered. They were exploring new ideas in watchmanufacturing, such as using jewels, making dials, and producing plates with ahigh-level of finish which required extensive tooling and resulted in greatfinancial burden on the company. They also found that even though they wereusing interchangeable parts, each watch was still unique and had its own set oferrors to be corrected. It took months to adjust the watches to the point wherethey were any better than other widely available timepieces. In1851, the factory building was completed and the company began doing businessunder the name American Horology Company. The first watchesproduced went to officials of the company, and it was not until 1853 that thefirst watches were offered for sale to the public. Nice Zenith size 12 pocket watch in a C. Co gold filled hunged case in very good condition. The rose gold dial is also in very good condition. The crystal glass has some scratches and would probably need to be changed. The 17 jewels movement is in good running condition. These vintage watches are not as accurate as quartz watches so they have not been tested and not guaranteed for long time accuracy.
