Outer silver shell case, tortoise shell & silver case and then silver pair case. Inner silver cases are hallmarked for London 1869. The outer silver case is in remarkably good condition considering its age, some age related wear and marks. The tortoise shell case is also in great condition with only very minor losses to the pins shell or pins. Inner silver pair cases are in excellent condition. The movement is signed Edwd Prior London, serial numbered 76975. The verge fusee movement has hybrid pillars, a finely pierced balance cock with pierced foot, a Turkish numeral Tompion style regulator and blued screws. The white enamel dial with Turkish display is signed Edward Prior London. It has a high dome glass crystal and beetle and poker hands. The innermost Sterling silver case is original to the movement. It is dated London 1861 and case maker stamped A. The case bezel containing the glass opens to access the swing out movement. The back of the case has a keyhole to wind the movement. 2nd case This Sterling silver case is hallmarked 1862 and case maker stamped W. S (William Calum Scott) and again hallmarked the same on the inside of the front bezel. The case has a spring backed button and catch to open the front cover. The edge of the case has fine cut engraved borders. This silver based case has a Tortoshell covering held in place with pique pins. The front bezel is hinged to open by pressing the spring-back button at position 3. Their is a watch paper inside by Edward & George Prior. The outer (largest of the four) silver case has engraved foliate decoration. The outer case measures 66mm in diameter. The dial and hands are in Excellent condition.
