Lincoln HC Model 8. 16 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set A. Lincoln is very rare in this hunting case Model 8 variant with a total production believed to be only 308 made. Movement is nicely finished with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, gold center wheel, and a narrow stripe nickel damaskeen pattern. Dial is double-sunk enamel with Arabic hour numerals and a curved block letter “Illinois” signature and I have checked the rear of the dial and it is an original hunting case Model 8 dial. Watch is housed in a gold-filled Crescent Watch Case Co. Case with beautiful engraving detail. Case cuvette is engraved with a name and a 1915 year marking. Movement serial number is 3347503. Running though balance motion is sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn’t seen any type of servicing in quite some time. Nice looking movement overall cosmetically with good color and luster though does have some scattered fine scratches with the most notable concentration being around the serial number area. Dial is beautiful with just a few very faint hairlines. Case is very attractive with excellent engraving detail but of note is that the case rear and cuvette open wide of 90 degrees to the approximately 115 degree position (please see side view photo to show them at fully opened position). You can’t go wrong with this beautiful set-up. It’s compact and light enough to carry everyday and still turn heads from people that know. That’s a big range for what should be the same watch. Lincoln Grade 16 Size 21 Jewels. Finely Accurate Timekeeping see Testing. Lincoln grade watch was price positioned to be slightly less costly than the Bunn Special about 9% less. Materials like ruby and sapphire jewels, gold train and balance jewel screws were the same as the Bunn but the movement was less elaborately decorated and the Bunn was advertised to have “Extra Quality Jewels”. Approximately 13,260 A. Lincoln grade watches were produced. The case is a Keystone gold filled warranted for 10 years in very good condition, no brassing or abuse. The case appears to be original to the movement and not a replacement. Lids screw on & off correctly. Crystal is scratch free. The gold train & jewel setting movement is clean with No discoloration and very minor service marks. The engine turning decoration pattern is all intact. Black letter filling is all there with very minor imperfections. All setting and winding functions work positively and correctly. Dial has a hairline and a minor chip at 5 o’clock. The watch was observed running for 24 hours in the dial and stem up positions. The watch lost 4 seconds during the 24 hour hours. Further regulation of the watch I’m sure would improve it’s accuracy even more. I have no history of the watch and assume that it’s due for professional serving and adjustments. 12 size 21 jewel hunting case pendant-set A. Lincoln pocket watch movement/dial/hands. A very nicely finished high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, gold center wheel, and narrow stripe pattern nickel damaskeen. Lincoln is significantly scarcer in this hunting case version than in its open face form. Serial number is 2664960. Fully wound and balance wheel tilts to the side indicating a likely bad balance staff and/or balance jewel(s). Very nice looking movement overall with good color and luster. Up for sale is an antique Illinois Watch Co 16 size 21 jewel A. Lincoln pocket watch in a very nice double backed Nawco Railroad Model case out of an estate! The #9 lever-set movement is marked: A. Lincoln Illinois Watch Co. Springfield 21 Jewels Adjusted Five Positions 3445580 Double Roller. The 14k green gold filled case is in very good condition, just light scratches and wear-through along the bow/crown area – see photos. The inside of the case back is marked: Nawco KING 14 Karat Gold Filled Railroad Model Patented 465122. The inside of the movement cover is also marked. The double-sunk dial is marked: Illinois. The dial is in fair condition, there are some hairlines in the finish. The watch is running, and winds/sets properly. 16 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set A. Beautiful example of this scarce hunting case railroad grade watch. Movement is nicely finished with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, gold center wheel, and striped pattern nickel damaskeen. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial and is housed in a beautifully engraved 25 year gold-filled Wadsworth Pilot case that appears likely its original and has a detailed house scene on both front and rear. Small shield at lower front of case is engraved with initials. Movement serial number is 2430133 which dates this watch to about 1912. Running and a very nice looking movement with excellent color and luster. Train bridge has some fine abrasion between the 3rd wheel and 4th wheel jewel settings. Dial is very near perfect with only a few mild fine glaze scratches. Case is beautiful with crisp engraving detail but does have a ding or small dent just below center of the front lid. Recently scrupulously serviced and working very well and keeping time in all positions to within + or – 15 seconds per day. Very nice looking movement with minimal scratches. This is in a white gold solid 14K case. The spring that the stem winds holds a good strong wind. The balance rotates and engages, but is pretty gunked up and moves really slow. It doesn’t run. Looks like someone had it set to run fast in an attempt to get it moving. I suspect that it is over oiled or dirty. Other than that I see no major mechanical issues with the movement.
