Lincoln Grade 16 Size 21 Jewels. Finely Accurate Timekeeping see Testing. Lincoln grade watch was price positioned to be slightly less costly than the Bunn Special about 9% less. Materials like ruby and sapphire jewels, gold train and balance jewel screws were the same as the Bunn but the movement was less elaborately decorated and the Bunn was advertised to have “Extra Quality Jewels”. Approximately 13,260 A. Lincoln grade watches were produced. The case is a Keystone gold filled warranted for 10 years in very good condition, no brassing or abuse. The case appears to be original to the movement and not a replacement. Lids screw on & off correctly. Crystal is scratch free. The gold train & jewel setting movement is clean with No discoloration and very minor service marks. The engine turning decoration pattern is all intact. Black letter filling is all there with very minor imperfections. All setting and winding functions work positively and correctly. Dial has a hairline and a minor chip at 5 o’clock. The watch was observed running for 24 hours in the dial and stem up positions. The watch lost 4 seconds during the 24 hour hours. Further regulation of the watch I’m sure would improve it’s accuracy even more. I have no history of the watch and assume that it’s due for professional serving and adjustments. C1917 Hamilton Grade 978 16 Size 17Jewels. Approved for electric interurban railways and street railway service. They were the official watches of the Conestoga Traction Company, which served Hamilton’s home town of Lancaster and surrounding communities. These railway types required a double-roller, steel escape wheel, adjustment to temperature and 3 positions, standards that were met by the grade 978. The pocket watch does not come with a key, however using a key from another pocket watch this watch does wind and run very nicely. The pocket watch case has London sterling hallmarks for the year 1810. The movement is signed M George, Dublin, 11505. The movement is of very fine quality and has a great figural pierced cock. The watch shows some minor imperfections consummate with its early age. The porcelain enamel dial has some cracks as seen. The watch has a bullseye glass dial cover that is likely original. Overall for its age this pocket watch is in good estate fresh condition as seen, and most importantly it is running. This pocket watch is a large size example measuring 3 1/4 inches tall, by 2 1/4 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. The pocket watch weighs 138 grams. A really nice early example.
