Antique post civil war c/Aug. Bartlett eagle carved Frederic Marquand 18 size coin silver hunter case pocket watch. A very impressive old watch in great working order. The case is in nice shape. One pin head size ding on front and a couple of small ones and rub mark on back. The case shows a fine engine turned background throughout with a magnificently carved spread wing eagle on front. The inside of the front cover shows futher etched decoration and is marked warranted coin silver 6477 along with Frederic Marquand maker’s mark. The same mark and number are also on the back cover. The crystal is good with no chips or cracks and the dial is free of any hairlines. All covers snap closed. The watch winds and sets with a key that will come with it. Presently runs and keeps good time. I do not know when it was last serviced. The watch has a gross weight of 172 grams. Enlarge all pics for best details. Starts low with no reserve. I don’t see too many of these high grade Hamilton 12 Size pocket watches. This is a Hamilton Open Face Model 900 Pocket Watch is a SIGNED Hamilton hold filled case. Marked “Permanent” and measures 47.0 mm wide not including the bow and crown. Has a great looking American Eagle engrave case back. It is the Roman Sigaev Eagle. Very little wear on this case. Has a Christmas 1917 Dedication on the inside dust cover lid. The SIGNED movement is a real beauty. It is a 19 Jewel 5 Adjust Breguet hairspring micrometer regulator multiple finger movement. Has gold jewel settings and an almost engine turn damaskeening. This watch does run and is stem wound and stem set. The stem is a little stiff getting into the set mode. Has a serial # 1,750,816 which dates this watch to 1909. The SIGNED dial is not as nice as the rest of the watch. There is a significant chip at the 2 o’clock marker and a few other hairlines. The hands are blued and are matching. Again this 108 year old Hamilton Model 900 pocket watch does run. I sell all my watches as-is and as found. This is a nice Civil War Waltham model 1857 made in February 1863. It is a keywind and keyset movement in a really nice silver Eagle Waltham case. The watch ticks and runs but will require a service to keep accurate time. The dial is perfect and beautiful. The case has a glass crystal which is likely original because they are almost impossible to find in glass at that size nowadays. The case springs open and closes but the hinge will require adjustment. I only have a universal key set so no key is provided, sorry.
