A great motion in all positions, keeps very good time for a more than. 250 year old verge watch, the movement is signed Cha. And the serial number 2145. The movement is recently fully serviced. The enamelled dial is near mint, has beautiful black steel. Poker and beetle hands. The crystal bulls-eye glass is also near mint, nos. The outer silver case is covered with tortoise shell. The inner case Is hallmarked for the city London. Year letter G what stands for the year 1762. Across 50mm, including bow 61mm. The watchmaker Charles Clayton of London, watchmaker till ca 1781. Is well listed in G. Ballie and Brian Loomes. “Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World”. Overall a very nice genuine verge watch with a beautiful tortoise case. In a fine working condition.
