18th Cent Silver Square Pillar Pair Cased Verge Fusee Pocket Watch, John Lumprey, Banbury 1760. This listing is for a square pillar verge pocket watch, by John Lumprey circa 1760. In great condition and good working order. The watch has a square pillar verge fusee chain driven movement with large D foot pierced balance cock and Tompion style regulator disk. The movement is working well and runs the full length of the chain. Movement signed Jn’o (John) Lumprey, Banbury, 203. Sterling silver matching pair case. Unfortunately no visible hallmarks, but guaranteed silver, matching and original to the watch. It wasn’t uncommon to have silver watch cases made without hallmarks in the 18th century. Both cases in good condition with some signs of wear and light marks commensurate with the watches age, please see pictures for more details. The white enamel dial in reasonably good condition with a couple of light marks to the surface. Original steel beetle & poker hands. Original thick domed bullseye glass in good condition. The watch measures approx 53mm across. The movement has been removed from the case to photograph. All my watches are tested on a flat surface. I would always recommend a service if they are going to be worn and used as accurate time pieces. Please visit my shop to view my. And contact me with any questions.
