This is an extremely nice old Illinois 11 jewel Hoyt key wind 18 size 4 hinged coin silver hunting case. The gilt movement is marked Hoyt Springfield, Illinois with serial number 14,047 ca. 1872 the first year of production for Illinois Springfield Watch Co. The case is marked D & Co. 3 Coin with fancy engraving on both the front & back cover. The case has gold hinges and shows normal wear while the engraving is still very prominent. The 11 jewel movement shows very well with no signs of abuse and was recently cleaned and serviced and is keeping good time. The porcelain dial shows extremely well for its age with no visible hairlines. Comes with a period correct key as well. The pusher to open the case comes all the way out as it appears to be a replacement needing a retaining pin. Just a great old Illinois time piece. The item “1ST YEAR PROD.
