Bunn Special 16s Hunting Case. 16 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocketwatch movement/dial/hands. Beautiful and rare high grade hunting case railroad watch, this movement style is listed with a total production of 700 made and is identified as a “Variant D” in Mike Chamelin’s Bunn Special book and is the final variety of hunting case Bunn Special that Illinois made. Movement is very nicely finished with ruby jewels in raised gold settings, gold balance screws, gold train wheels, mirror finish steelwork, and rayed pattern nickel damaskeening. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial with Gothic numerals and Old English signature. Serial number is 4216302 which dates this movement to about 1923. Running and a beautiful movement with excellent color and luster. Movement lettering has some black color loss in areas which could be retouched, and larger winding wheel has some small bits of oxide to its perimeter. Dial is near perfect with only a small very light hairline below the seconds-bit at the 30 minute position. The rear side of the dial has been checked and it is a correct original Model 8 dial with unaltered feet at the 13, 39, and 58 minute positions; this is always very important to check as the hunting case lever-set Model 8 and 12 Illinois movements have unique dial feet positions and for one of these movements lacking its original dial a correct dial is very hard to come by. Highly Original Silver Pair Cased Verge Fusee London 1764. Rare opportunity to acquire highly original Verge fusee with its original signed dial case and movement. The outer sterling silver case is in excellent condition with no dents. There are a few minor shallow dings which are hardly worth mentioning. All the hinges clasp and the button are strong with the case closing tightly. The inner of the outer case bears all the London hallmarks to date this watch to 1764. These marks correspond to the inner of the inside case. The original white enamel dial has large black roman numerals with Arabic five markers to the outer chapter. Blued steel bottle and poker hands and signed by its maker Lloyd of London. There are a few faint hairlines which you will see in the pictures. The bullseye glass is also in excellent condition. The Verge Fusee movement has a highly pierced cock with pierced foot plate, square Egyptian pillars, early Tompion regulator and signed by its maker William Lloyd of London and the number 9356. This number corresponds to the number stamped on the inner of the inside case and tells us that the case and the movement have always been together. The watch has just been completely dismantled cleaned and serviced and in excellent working condition keeping excellent time and running the full length of the fusee chain. The watch losses approx 5 minutes over a 24 hour period which is remarkable for a Verge of this age. The watch is keywound at the rear and set at the front and comes with a key. The watch is approx. 48 mm in diameter. Overall an extremely nice Verge Fusee with its original dial, movement and cases which makes this watch quit unique. The watch is difficult to fault in anyway and with the added bonus of having just been completely serviced and cleaned. MUSEUM SILVER & SHELL PAIR CASED VERGE FUSEE CHAIN DRIVEN POCKET WATCH WORKING. Antique Circa 1770 silver and shell pair cased Verge fusee pocket watch in good working order. The dial is white enamel with black Roman numerals and gold coloured fancy hands. The movement is a chain driven fusee with Verge escapement Fire gilt and silver plates with fancy round pillars and set with coloured gems, pierced silver decorated cock depicting the crucifixion over a plain steel balance with Tompion type regulator. The watch winds strongly, sets and runs for over 24 hours and is in good working order running the full length of its chain keeping good time for a verge of this age. It has a good swinging balance and good chain. The watch case is marked to the inside with the number 14060 L. It is key wind and set. The dial and dial glass are clean and clear and free from any chips or cracks. Both cases are clean and bright and have worn as to their age with all the covers closing nice and tight. Please note there is a part of the shell missing from its pair case. The watch measures 54mm excluding crown and its pair case a big chunky 61mm.
