1895 RARE SILVER CASED SMITH & SON SPLIT SECOND CHRONOGRAPH POCKET WATCH WORKING. Antique Circa 1895 silver cased Smith & Son Split Second Chronograph centre second pocket watch in good working order. The dial is white enamel with black coloured numerals and blued steel and gold coloured hands with three sub-dials and two centre sweep hand. The dial is marked Smith & Son 9 Strand London Non Magnetizable 141-175 Swiss Made. The movement is fully jewelled with a Swiss lever escapement, clean with a good strong tick keeping good time and marked Smith & Son 9 Strand London Swiss Made. It is button wind and pin pillar set. To stop and start the centre sweep hand is done by pushing down the top button, one to start one to stop and one to reset back to zero having a good flyback. The split second works by pressing down the button to the left of the winding button one to start and one to catch-up. The back covers are marked to the inside with Swiss silver hallmarks 0.935 and the number 238612. The dial and dial glass are clean and clear and free from any chips or cracks apart from a small nick to the centre of the dial on the clock dial. The case is clean and bright and has worn as to its age with all the covers closing nice and tight. It Measures a big chunky 54mm excluding crown and comes supplied in its own box as in the photos.
