Beautiful 1780′s English verge fusee Gold Plated inner pair case pocket watch by D. Amazing inner pair case that was fully yellow Gold plated at one time, but the outside plating has now worn away and appears to possibly be a type of rose Gold fill or cooper alloy. I have not had it tested so at this time I will sell as if an unk material. Case polished up easily to a nice clean shine. The beautiful bow and stem are truly unique. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with nice Roman numerals. The dial does have a few old chips and repairs, but has real nice eye appeal. The Gold hands are a perfect complement to the dial and case. Sharp clean high domed bullseye Crystal is real nice with just a few tiny scratches and edge chips. The case cover opens and closes nice and tight with good movement hidges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs beautifully with nice Balance motion. The balance bridge is beautiful with ornate scroll work, as does the right side of the movement. The movement is super clean with sharp blue screws and is regulated by a right side blue disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 42mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 or 2 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 235 years ago. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces. Watch comes with a set of keys for winding and setting. Note all of my pocket watches have been personally serviced and restored to there best working order according to there age and condition. Pocket watch is listed in the watch and clock makers of the world as Edmonds, D. The case does not have hallmarks so the serial number being low and the square pillars on the movement, approximately place the watch in the 1780′s. S-29089, circa 1963, late-model Grade 950B, 16 size, open face, 23 jewels, Model Six, Grade 950B, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 6 positions, double roller, cupped gold jewel settings, all-gold balance screws, center bridge nickel plate, stem wind, lever set movement. This dependable late-model 950B – the culmination of Hamilton’s high-grade watch making expertise from 1963 – is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and strong, steady beat. The watch is a smooth wind, starts right up with no hassling, and lever sets as designed. The watch holds time well within 30 seconds per week face-up after years of careful hand regulating. As for appearance this collectible 950B movement is looking spot-on, with nice, bright and clean, absolutely 100% tarnish-free winding wheels, shiny bright and clean bridge nickel plates with all of the fine golden engraving paint still intact, spotless correct regulator needle and whip, super clean looking inside, and reeling and rocking holding railroad time!! Dial : Correct for a 1963 950B double sunk melamine, black-on-gray Deco Arabic colored Hamilton 23 Jewels Railway Special model. This dial is remarkably excellent for a melamine model. It has no sign of any cracking or buckling; just some faint spots that can be easily removed with a gentle solvent and a bit of elbow grease. That’s totally it for wear that I can see with a loupe!!! Hands : Near mint condition original finish (not doctored-up aftermarket) black new-old-stock (NOS) spade hour and pointer minute hands. These hands are correct for the latest model Hamiltons, in almost perfect shape, with darn near 100% of the original factory black lacquer finish intact – super fine hands and correct for this model! Case : superlative condition Hamilton Case Model #17, Star model 10K yellow gold fill, bar-over-crown and the correct case for the last 950Bs. It features the smooth back framed by the interlocking loop edge pattern, the thick, sturdy neck, large and wind-able crown, the classic Hamilton bar-over feature and the railroader’s preferred sturdy peak-shaped bow!! This classic and traditional Hamilton case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The correct and matching signed original Hamilton Railroad crown’s fluting is practically like-new for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely. The bow is likewise its correct matching original, shows zero brass or damage damage, and swings loose. The crystal is a brand-new, newly-installed thick beveled mineral glass model and in perfect condition. The case does show minimal wear, including nothing other than the most superficial and unavoidable exterior scratching and three short more noticeable ones, zero marrings, zero doodlings, zero brass anywhere detectable, and just a couple of light dings on the back! I’ve owned this fine 950B for many enjoyable years and it has always run accurately and never failed to please and delight when carried or timed!!
