S-11752, circa 1951, scarce Grade 950B, 16 size, open face, 23 jewels, Model Six, Grade 950B, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 6 positions, double roller, cupped gold jewel settings, all-gold balance screws, center bridge nickel plate, stem wind, lever set movement. This dependable late-model 950B – the ultimate beneficiary of Hamilton’s high-grade watch making expertise – is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and strong, steady beat. The watch is a smooth wind, starts right up with a single flick of the wrist, and lever sets as designed. The watch holds time well within 30 seconds per week face-up after years of careful hand regulating. As for appearance this collectible 950B movement is looking spot-on, with nice, bright and clean, absolutely 100% tarnish-free winding wheels, shiny bright and clean bridge nickel plates with all of the fine golden engraving paint still intact, spotless correct regulator needle and whip, super clean looking inside, and reeling and rocking holding railroad time!!! Dial : Hamilton’s famous Railway Special double sunk enamel with the black Boxcar Arabic numerals and the black minute markers. This dial in dead bang factory perfect shape, with no sign of any hairlines, chips, cracks, chaffing, stains or scratches!!! Hands : Near mint condition original finish (not doctored-up aftermarket) RR-bold blue matching spade hour and pointer minute hand in near mint condition with practically all of the original factory blue finish intact – super fine hands and correct for this model! Case : near perfect condition Hamilton Case Model #A, the correct case for the 950B. It features the smooth back framed by the beaded Deco-era concentric circles, the thick, sturdy neck, large and wind-able crown, and the railroader’s preferred sturdy arching bow!! This classic and traditional Hamilton case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads and the crystal ledge so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The correct and matching crown’s fluting is still super deep and crisp for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely. The bow is likewise its correct matching original, shows absolutely zero brass or damage, and holds super tight to positions a rarity for the Model A design!! The crystal is a brand-new thick beveled glass model and, well, brand-new looking. The case does show exceptionally minimal wear, including nothing other than the most superficial and unavoidable exterior scratching, zero marrings other than a screw-mark inside the back, zero doodlings, zero brass anywhere whatsoever, and no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions beyond one itty-bitty little dimple on the back! I’ve owned this fine 950B for many enjoyable years and it has always run accurately and never failed to please when carried or cared for!! Swiss quarter hour repeater pocket watch, 55mm, original marked 18K gold hunter case, stem-wind stem-set, white enamel single-sunk dial, lever escapement, 17J, gilt movement. Gross weight of assembled watch 61.2 dwt (95.3 g). Runs well upon winding but has not been serviced, timed or tested, good mvt condition overall, runs and strikes well; excellent dial; minute hand lacking; case shows ample wear, a lot of shallow dents or waviness, engine turned detail vanished at shoulders, cuvette does not close so the back cover does not stay closed either; good bow, crown shows light wear; no glass crystal, but bezel is there.
